fun sized

Happy December!

I have been thinking a lot lately, but I have also been doing some fun things. For example, today I made peanut butter. I saw a recipe on my friend Ali´s food blog. It´s a tremendous site full of extreme deliciousness. Unfortunately, it didn´t turn out as well as I had hoped. It will do though. Tomorrow I´m making the tortellini with balsamic brown butter sauce for lunch. Mm!

Today I received a fabulous card from Raquael Ingles and then proceeded to tell the story of her name to Faby. Faby and Teresa (her daughter) loved it. Oo! Today I also turned in all my immigration papers. Hooray! Get pumped. About everything that could have gone wrong did... for example, passport sized photos are not the same size in Spain as in the States. Who knew? I´m just happy it´s all done now because there is nothing that makes me want to come home more than going to the Foreigners´Office and having them tell me that I need a different paper or need to jump through a different hoop.

I went to church on Sunday. It was an interesting experience, and generally positive. I checked out mentally after 1 hour of the sermon. Then I sat through another hour. The people were kind though, and it´s been a long time since I´ve been to church.

The weather has turned to winter here, with highs of 13´C or 55´F. The houses remain quite chilly, but fortunately my portable radiator keeps me quite warm. Today my students complained that it was very cold in the classroom. It probably was but I had just arrived from the Foreigners Office by bike. It´s a comfortable 15 - 20 minute bike ride which I had completed in 10 minutes. I was sweaty. So... we turned on the space heater and ran a lap around the school. No one was cold after that!

I am so glad you received the card! I was beginning to question the Correos. Maybe the weird size threw them off.

haha. were Faby and Teresa confused by my name? I can't tell you how many times I've tried to explain my apellido to Spaniards. I think they instinctively get scared when they hear the word "English". haha

Despite the complications, I'm glad your paperwork situation is getting worked out! You'll be a legal resident before you know it! So exciting! :)

Fun sized, I was looking for candy bars for some reason. Ha! I wish I'd have seen your friend Ali's blog before Thanksgiving. I love the little rice crispy shaped turkeys! Don't know when I'd have fit that in, but I still have candy corn from the turkey shaped cookies that didn't get decorated.

Love the run around the school to warm up!

Hoping for a "hoop free" rest of your Spanish experience.
