beautiful birthday presents
the pepto bismol I probably needed but never took.
I swear like a Spanish sailor as I remember books and pottery.
My life here:
four suitcases: 3 if I'm lucky.
Joder. My toothbrush.
Frick. I forgot about my desk.
Joder. the sea shells.
Where is it going to go?
Crap. The chocolate.
I don't swear in English
But in Spanish it's fun.
Strange syllables with no stigma.
Goodbye whole wheat baguettes from the panaderia.
Goodbye 5 liter jugs of aceite.
Hello Loch Lloyd with Ralph,
waving at every car we pass on our bikes
Hello fireflies.
Hello Jacob's Well.
Hello family.
Goodbye beach.
Goodbye castellano.
Goodbye fungshui-ed house and paying rent.
Goodbye children.
Goodbye Helen.
Goodbye to all the Maria's, Jose noséque, and Carmens
Goodbye painful Jerez.
Goodbye beautiful Jerez.
Hello new and old, my home that will have changed.
Hello me. I have changed.
Siempre llevaré la gitana dentro,
puede que nunca se me acaben las canciones flamencas espontáneas.
"aiiiiiii... que quemá 'stoiiiiy, que quemá 'stoiiiy"
"No me vaya todaía, no me vaya todaía"
"joooo que maleta... que maleta más grande... joooo que maleta.. no quiero hacerla"
But hello Kenneth Road.
My song: the wind in the grass, the smell of hierba.
chilling on top of the nelson,
dreaming about life
weaving community once again.
I will miss you Jerez.
I am pumped to see you KC.

Not related at all, but when I saw "José" it reminded me of my 5 year old student when he learned the word for "horse". He ran around the room shouting "Horsé María!"
bahahahaha thank you for that anecdote!
and WE are PUMPED to see YOU!
Love, Mom, Dad, and Michael
A prayer I like:
Saint Theresa's Prayer
May today there be peace within.
May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be..
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be content knowing you are a child of God..
Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing,
Dance, praise and love.
It is there for each and every one of us.
Come home soon :) I know that I will sense the difference in Kansas City when I come back from camp and you are living here.
I love you, Ellen. I know I didn't always comment on your blog, but I read all of it. Like a ghost. You never knew I was here.
I'm glad you're home, and I hope you're glad you're home. I'm glad you went to Spain, and I hope you're glad you went to Spain.
Love you.
