Today Samantha and I had a presentation in History.
Last night, as we were busily working on our Power Points and notecards, I heard water dripping. As Maria had just finished a shower, I didn't think anything of it. But it kept going. I walked into the bathroom, and there was water dripping from the ceiling into the bathtub. But, hey, it was all going to the bathtub right? I figured maybe the people above us had somehow managed to get enough hot water to take a bath and their tub was leaking. Again, no big deal.
A few minutes later, I snuck into the kitchen to eat a piece of cinnamon candy (Lately, I have had this unexplicable craving for cinnamon "canela") As I walked in, I noticed the floor was wet, and huge droplets of water were falling from several places in the ceiling.
Sam woke Maria up and we all cleaned up water. It turns out in the apartment above us, the washing machine broke mid-cycle and all the water poured out all over their apartment. Then it fell into ours. Sam and I were hoping for an excuse to delay our presentation, but no such luck.
Also last night, we had this huge storm with lots of really loud thunder and big flashes of lightning. Maria is scared of lightning. Sam and I were watching the storm from our window, thinking it would be funny if we ran into Maria's room and crawled up on her bed and all sang "My Favorite Things." As I burst into "Raindrops on roses and whiskers on..." Maria crept into our room looking rather frightened and so we all sat on Sam's bed watching the lightning and speaking Spanish. It was about 12:30am.
I saw Hairspray in Spanish. The songs were in English with subtitles. What a shame. It was a good time.
Tonight I'm going to La noche larga de los museos. All the museums in Seville are open from 9pm-2am for free with lots of fun activities. (shout out to Amelia). We're starting at the Flamenco Musuem because usually it's really expensive to see and it has a "Sushi Flamenco" workshop. Sushi and Flamenco? Should be interesting...

So I've caught up on my Ellen's blog reading and am finally commenting. 4 weeks! whoa, I had no idea it'd been that long already!
Michelle's coming today, and RUSH is this weekend. It's gonna be intense. You and Sam should have your own RUSH. Video it and send me a copy! ;)
love.
I was reading about your free museum visits late at night and getting insanely jealous, and then I got a shout out so I feel better! It sounds like great fun, have a good time!
Elena,
We have more in common as the water heater went out yesterday and leaked all over the basement. Michael had to in his terms, "man up" and take a cold shower this morning. We are also going to play bridge on Saturday with Marsha and Chris Wilson and our dinner is at a sushi place in Leawood. Ask Mom about it. Love Dad
And her name is Maria! Let me know if you and Sam receive wonderful play clothes made from the curtains. Love You!
sushi and flamenco sounds amazing! oh i'm so jealous. maybe i should come visit you during your fiesta in early december just so i can go to a disco teca with you. anyhow, i think that you singing to maria would be amazing as well. what a wonderful thought - life is a musical.
