Yesterday, or perhaps Monday, I was walking home from school. Actually it was Friday. No matter. I was walking home from school, dead tired. I really love my job, but on Friday, I was particularly wiped out.
So I was walking down the sidewalk and I noticed that one of the oranges had fallen off the tree. I picked it up and looked at it, held it in my hand, smelled it´s citrusy scent, and threw it under a bush. Then I looked up again. Amongst the orange trees and palm trees, we also have some deciduous trees too. They are just starting to change color and lose their leaves. There was one particularly crunchy leaf on the sidewalk. A woman walked past me and my orange-smelling fingers and looked down, also noticing the leaf. She then proceeded to change her next few steps in order to arrive at the leaf and - *crunch*.
I was so happy I burst out laughing, silently of course. She went fully out of her way to step on the one crunchy leaf on the sidewalk. Apparently that transcends culture.
