Maybe I should have been studying Portuguese...

We went to Lagos, Portugal this weekend. I would put it up there with the top 5 best weekends in my entire life.
Words are not enough. I took 256 pictures and 43 of them are on photobucket. (See Portugal)
We didn't have class on Friday. I left my house at 7:30am to make an 8:30 bus to Lagos. There were 11 people on it. At least 5 of us were English-speaking tourists. We got to Lagos and then the car filled with Dave, Eric, Anita, and Caitlin arrived and we went to our adorable apartment and then straight to the Atlantic Ocean. It was gorgeous. There was no one there because it was like 5pm on a Friday. Then we all went to the grocery store and bought dinner and breakfast for all 5 of us for 18.53 Euros. We then returned to our adorable apartment and drank Fanta and Coke. Then we made dinner (spaghetti, salad, bread, and garlic toasted in olive oil) and went out on the roof and looked at the stars!!!!!!!
This was the first time I had seen the stars since being home.
The next morning, we hung out in the town of Lagos as it was a little chilly, and bought souvenirs and saw Native American looking people.
Weird?
Then finally after 2 hours, we met up with the other five people from our school and we all went to the beach, where I we went on picture adventures and then real adventures.
Just look at the pictures and know that we throughly explored that beach up and down and around. Four of us: Dave, Eric, Lydia and I went climbing around and it was very enjoyable. Joined by several others, we also swam around and I got taken down by the tide about 3.5 times and I sacrificed part of my big toenail and some skin off my hip. It's alright though. Totally worth it.
Anyway, we also cooked dinner again and were unable to swim on Sunday because of some rain. We played in the rain though and then being wet in our clothes got old.
In the end, 6 girls and 4 boys piled back into the rental cars and drove off into the sunset totally exhausted and a little dirty after a tremendous weekend.

Ellen, I think you are doing fine with Spanish but this sounds like a delightful adventure. The photos of your lodging looked wonderful. Hope you heal quickly and are able to clean up. I will be in Hollywood, Florida from Wednesday to Friday so I'll go down to this side of the Atlantic and kick some water or something. Thanks for the update, Love, Dad

Gosh, I wish I had time on the weekends to go to the ocean... Then again, I'm in the middle of Iowa. I hope you aren't allergic to the ocean like you are to Iowa. That would be a sad story. I hope you have more fun, and I'd love it if you could have some for me, too! Just save some for a roommate night when you get back!

Did you buy your souvenirs at a place like Fort Cody? I've never thought of comparing Portugal and North Platte before.

Sounds like you are having a wonderful adventure. I, on the other hand, am experiencing my first time on crutches. I think I could easily trade places with you! Take care! Love, Aunt Nancy
